Funding For Down Syndrome Research Shrinks

The organizations pointed out that research into Down syndrome has benefits beyond those currently affected by the disorder since individuals with Down syndrome are at higher risk for Alzheimer’s disease, childhood leukemia and other conditions.

Why is Down Syndrome Linked to Leukemia?

The chromosome 21 gene the researchers have zeroed in on — Dyrk1A — may also be the answer to treating this type of leukemia, according to an announcement of the findings, by developing a small-molecule inhibitor of that particular gene.

I am so grateful for her vision. The world would be a sadder place if she had followed the conventional wisdom of the time.

One of my favorite times of the year is just around the corner – The Special Olympics Spring Season. I’m blessed to help out with my Son, Matthew’s, Track and Field Athletics Team.
