Special Olympics Northern Santa Barbara County
From the website:
The Northern Santa Barbara program has been around since the first year that Eunice Kennedy Shriver created the Special Olympics. The program is one of a few left in Southern California where a public agency (City of Santa Maria) provides the administrative structure and support for Special Olympics in the north county. While the program raises its own funds for all the services and programs provided to our Athletes, the cost of overhead is greatly reduce through this partnership.
The Area staff consist of a Sports Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator and Operations Coordinator, all part time positions, allowing the program to use most of the money raised to go directly to athlete services. The Special Olympics program in Lompoc is co-sponsored by the City of Lompoc, Department of Parks, Recreation and Urban Forestry. The Area serves over 325 athletes with intellectual disabilities and has over 50 regular coaching volunteers and assistants.
