Special Olympics Summer Games

The 2009 Summer Games was a success for the athletes of Northern Santa Barbara County. Once again the campus of Long Beach State University played host to the 2009 Summer Games two day event. Over 2,000 athletes from San Luis Obispo County through San Diego County came out to strut their stuff in athletics, aquatics, basketball, bocce, tennis, and golf.

Thirty athletes from Lompoc and Santa Maria represented our region. Everyone did a wonderful job! We would like to thank the athletes, coaches, and volunteers for another memorable experience!

We are almost ready for ASASB’s (Autism Society of America-Santa Barbara Chapter’s) 2009 Beach Day… This is one of our best events. If you or someone you know and love would like to attend, please see the attached flyer.

Special Olympics Coaches Needed!

Hello Everyone -

Hope all is well with everyone, and I hope you all are having a good summer so far. We are in need of a couple of coaching positions for the upcoming Summer / Fall season. We have openings for softball, and bowling coaches, so if anyone is interested in running one of our sport teams feel free to give me a call at 925-0951 ext. 135. Also, if you know of any parties who may be interested in coaching please forward this e-mail on. Below is the practice schedule for Special Olympics bowling, and softball.

Bowling: Saturday, July 25th – Saturday, October 17th (Practice will be every Saturday)
1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Softball: Tuesday, July 28th – Saturday, October 3rd (Practice will be every Tuesday)
5:45 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
